Repairs a tear in the tough membrane around the spinal cord, or a pocket of spinal fluid that has collected outside it, after removing a section of bone from the back of the spine to reach the problem. Sealing the leak stops fluid escaping and relieves the headaches and swelling it causes. A patch of tissue or a sealant may be used to reinforce the repair.
