Repair Of Large Spinal Cord Sac Defect

Massachusetts rates for HCPCS 63706

Closes a sac that pushes out through a gap in the back of the spine and contains spinal cord and nerve tissue as well as fluid. The nerve tissue is carefully freed and returned into the spinal canal, then the coverings, muscle, and skin are closed over it in layers. This is the operation for a larger defect, where more tissue has to be moved to get a secure closure.
