Removal of a Spinal Canal Lesion, Lower Back

Vermont rates for HCPCS 63272

Removes bone at the back of the lower spine so the covering of the spinal canal can be opened and a lesion inside it that is not a tumor — such as a cyst, an abscess, or a collection of blood — can be taken out or drained. The covering is then closed to keep spinal fluid in. Clearing the lesion relieves pressure on the nerve roots.
