Removal Of A Non-Tumor Lesion Inside The Spinal Sac

Vermont rates for HCPCS 63271

Removes a section of bone from the back of the spine in the mid-back to reach and remove a lesion, such as a cyst or a pocket of infection, lying inside the membrane that surrounds the spinal cord. Taking it out relieves pressure on the cord and the pain, weakness or numbness that pressure causes. The membrane is opened and then carefully closed again.
