Release of a Tethered Spinal Cord, Lower Back

Frees a spinal cord that is abnormally attached to the surrounding tissue in the lower back, so it is no longer pulled tight as the body grows or moves. Bone at the back of the spine is removed to reach the cord and the tethering tissue is divided. It is done to stop or prevent worsening leg weakness, numbness, back pain, or bladder trouble.
