Removal of part or all of a vertebral body in the mid-back, reached through the chest, to take pressure off the spinal cord or the nerve roots leaving it. It is used when bone, a growth, an infection, or a collapsed vertebra is pressing on the cord from the front. This covers one level of the spine.
