Removes bone and thickened tissue pressing on the nerves at a further level of the spine during a fusion operation, once one level has already been decompressed. Taking the pressure off the nerve roots relieves pain, numbness and weakness running into the leg. It is billed in addition to the main procedure for each extra level treated.
