Bone at the back of one spinal level is removed along with part of the small joint beside it, and the tunnel where the nerve leaves the spine is opened up. It treats spinal stenosis, a narrowing that causes leg pain, numbness or heaviness on walking; further levels treated at the same operation are billed separately.
