Puts in, or replaces, a small pump that delivers medicine directly into the fluid around the spinal cord. The pump sits under the skin of the abdomen and connects to a fine tube running into the spine, and its settings can be changed from outside the body to adjust the dose. It is used for severe long-standing pain or for muscle spasticity that tablets cannot control.
