Implanting A Fixed-Rate Spinal Drug Pump

Alaska rates for HCPCS 62361

Places or replaces a small pump under the skin of the abdomen that delivers medicine directly into the fluid around the spinal cord through a thin tube, most often for severe pain or muscle spasticity. This pump runs at a set rate that is not adjusted electronically, so the dose is changed by altering the strength of the medicine put in at each refill. Delivering medicine right at the spinal cord means far smaller doses are needed than by mouth.
