Brain Fluid Shunt Removed And Replaced

Vermont rates for HCPCS 62258

Takes out an entire cerebrospinal fluid shunt, meaning the valve and all of the tubing that drains fluid from around the brain, and puts a new shunt in, either along the same path or at a different site. It is done when the existing shunt is infected, blocked or no longer working. Draining the fluid keeps the pressure inside the head under control.
