Brain Fluid Shunt Replacement or Revision

Vermont rates for HCPCS 62230

Replaces or revises part of a shunt that drains excess fluid from around the brain or spinal cord — typically a blocked valve or the long drainage tube that carries fluid away to the abdomen or another site. The surgeon opens the existing system, takes out or repairs the failed part, and puts a working one in its place. It is done when a shunt that is already implanted stops draining properly.
