Replacing the Brain End of a Fluid Shunt

Vermont rates for HCPCS 62225

Exchanges or flushes out the thin tube that sits in the fluid-filled chamber of the brain as part of a shunt, the system that drains excess spinal fluid away to relieve pressure. The tube is reached through a small opening in the skull. It is done when that segment becomes blocked, shifts out of position, or stops draining.
