Shunt to Drain Fluid From Around the Brain

Vermont rates for HCPCS 62192

A thin tube is placed into the fluid space over the surface of the brain and tunneled under the skin to another part of the body, where excess fluid can be absorbed into the bloodstream. It is used when fluid builds up around the brain and raises the pressure inside the head. Once in place the tube drains continuously and is not visible from outside.
