Repair of a Larger Skull Defect

Rebuilds a gap in the skull where bone is missing, using the person's own bone or a made-to-fit plate secured over the opening to protect the brain and restore the shape of the head. This is the version used when the area of missing bone is larger. The gap may be left from an earlier operation, an injury, or removal of diseased bone.
