Brain Bypass Surgery

Kansas rates for HCPCS 61711

An artery from outside the skull is joined directly to an artery on the surface of the brain, creating a new route for blood to reach brain tissue that is not getting enough. It is used when a vessel supplying the brain is narrowed or blocked and cannot be reopened from the inside. The skull is opened so the two vessels can be stitched together under a microscope.
