Removal Of A Meningioma From The Back Of The Brain

Maryland rates for HCPCS 61519

Opens the skull at the back of the head to remove a meningioma, a growth arising from the membranes covering the brain, from the posterior fossa, the compartment holding the cerebellum and brainstem. Growths here press on structures controlling balance, swallowing, hearing, and breathing, and can block the flow of fluid around the brain. The surgeon separates the growth from those structures and removes it.
