Decompression at the Base of the Skull and Neck

Wyoming rates for HCPCS 61343

Bone is removed from the back of the skull and from the top of the spine in the neck to make room where the lower brain and the spinal cord are being crowded, and the tough covering over them is often enlarged with a patch. It is done for a malformation in which the lower part of the brain sits too low and pushes into the spinal canal. Creating space restores the normal flow of fluid around the brain and cord.
