Draining A Brain Abscess In The Upper Brain

Vermont rates for HCPCS 61320

Opens the skull over the upper part of the brain to drain an abscess, a walled-off pocket of pus caused by infection. Letting the pus out relieves pressure on the brain and allows antibiotics to work on what remains. A sample is sent to the laboratory to identify the organism responsible so treatment can be aimed at it.
