Burr Hole To Place A Brain Catheter Or Monitor

Vermont rates for HCPCS 61210

Makes a small round opening in the skull so a catheter, reservoir or monitoring device can be passed into or onto the brain, for example to drain fluid from the fluid spaces or to measure the pressure inside the head. The opening is only as large as is needed to pass the device. It is the version performed as a procedure in its own right rather than as part of a larger operation.
