Burr Hole Drainage of a Blood Clot in the Head

North Carolina rates for HCPCS 61154

One or more round holes are drilled through the skull so that a collection of blood pressing on the brain can be washed out and drained away. The blood may lie between the skull and the brain's tough outer covering, or just beneath that covering. A drain is often left in place briefly so the space can empty fully.
