Drilled Hole In The Skull To Drain A Brain Abscess

Vermont rates for HCPCS 61150

Makes a small round hole through the skull so that an abscess, a pocket of pus, or a fluid-filled cyst within the brain can be drained. Draining it relieves pressure and provides a sample so the laboratory can identify what is causing an infection. It avoids the much larger opening needed to take the pocket out whole.
