Takes a small piece of parathyroid tissue removed during neck surgery and implants it into a muscle, commonly in the forearm or neck, where it can take root and keep working. The transplanted tissue continues to make the hormone that keeps blood calcium in balance. It is billed in addition to the main procedure.
