Thyroid Removal Through the Breastbone

Vermont rates for HCPCS 60270

Removes a thyroid gland that extends down behind the breastbone into the chest, reaching it by splitting the breastbone or opening the chest rather than working through the neck alone. A gland that grows downward can press on the windpipe, food pipe, and large veins. Both the neck and chest portions are taken out.
