Removal Of One Lobe Of The Thyroid Gland

Removes one entire half — one lobe — of the thyroid gland in the front of the neck, often together with the narrow bridge of tissue joining the two halves. It is done for a lump or nodule confined to one side, for a large goitre pressing on the windpipe, or for an overactive area. Laboratory examination of the removed tissue is charged separately.
