This procedure adds fluid into the amniotic sac around a baby during pregnancy, using a needle placed through the mother's abdomen under ultrasound guidance. It is used when the amount of fluid around the baby is too low, which can make it hard to see the baby clearly on ultrasound or can put pressure on the umbilical cord. The added fluid can improve visibility for monitoring and temporarily relieve cord compression.
