The uterus is removed through the vagina rather than through a cut in the abdomen, along with one or both tubes and ovaries. A bulge of bowel pushing down into the top of the vagina is repaired during the same operation. It is used when the uterus is not enlarged, so it can be taken out through the vaginal route.
