Repairs bulging of both the front and the back wall of the vagina and, in the same operation, repairs an enterocele — a hernia in which a loop of small intestine pushes down into the top of the vagina. The work is done through the vagina, tightening and re-supporting the weakened tissue so the pelvic organs sit back where they belong. It is used for pelvic organ prolapse that causes pressure, a visible bulge, or trouble emptying the bladder or bowel.
