Repairs the wall between the vagina and the rectum when it has weakened and the bowel bulges forward into the vagina. Working through the vagina, the surgeon lifts the lining, brings the stretched supporting tissue back together with stitches and trims any excess lining before closing; the area between the vagina and the anus can be repaired at the same time. It is done for a feeling of bulging or pressure and for difficulty emptying the bowel.
