Open Radical Prostate Removal Through The Abdomen

Vermont rates for HCPCS 55840

Removes the whole prostate gland and the seminal vesicles behind it through an incision in the lower abdomen, then joins the bladder directly to the urine channel. The small nerves alongside the gland that affect erections are spared where the disease allows. It is the operation used to treat prostate cancer that is still confined to the gland.
