Open Prostate Removal Through The Bladder

Vermont rates for HCPCS 55821

Removes the inner, enlarged part of the prostate by opening the bladder through an incision in the lower abdomen, relieving the blockage that a large prostate causes to the flow of urine. The outer shell of the gland is left behind. It is chosen when the gland is too large to be cleared out with an instrument passed along the urine channel.
