Removal of a Urethral Pouch in Women

Vermont rates for HCPCS 53230

Removes a pouch that has ballooned out from the wall of the urethra in a woman, usually reached through an incision in the front wall of the vagina. The pouch is dissected free, cut away, and the urethra closed in layers so it does not leak. Such pouches trap urine and cause repeated infections, dribbling after passing urine, and pain.
