Examination of the inside of the kidney with a small scope passed through an opening made into the kidney during the same operation. A catheter is passed down into the ureter, the tube that drains urine to the bladder, and a narrowed segment may be stretched open. Rinsing and dye studies of the drainage system may be done at the same time.
