Removes a kidney together with its entire drainage tube and a small collar of bladder wall where that tube enters the bladder. The upper part is reached through one incision and the lower part through a second, separate incision. It is major surgery under general anesthesia, done when disease affects the kidney and the full length of its drainage tube.
