Repairs an abdominal wound that has come apart after surgery, sometimes far enough for the contents of the abdomen to push through. The wound edges are cleaned back to strong tissue and stitched together again, often with heavy sutures placed through the full thickness of the abdominal wall. It is an emergency operation.
