Open surgery to repair a hernia in the abdominal wall that has come back after an earlier repair, in the situation where the bulging tissue is stuck and cannot be pushed back in or its blood supply is being pinched off. The surgeon opens the area, frees and inspects the trapped tissue, removes any that has been damaged, and closes the defect in the wall.
