Urgent Repair of a Returned Groin Hernia

Wyoming rates for HCPCS 49557

Repairs a hernia low in the groin, just below the crease where the leg meets the abdomen, which has come back after an earlier repair and in which the bulging tissue is trapped and cannot be pushed back. Because trapped tissue can lose its blood supply, the operation is usually urgent: the surgeon opens the area, frees or removes any damaged tissue, and closes the defect. Scarring from the previous surgery makes the dissection more demanding.
