Infant Inguinal Hernia Repair

Wyoming rates for HCPCS 49495

This surgery repairs a first-time inguinal hernia, a bulge in the groin where abdominal tissue pushes through a weak spot in the muscle wall, in an infant younger than 6 months old. The hernia is reducible, meaning it can be gently pushed back into place before surgery, rather than being trapped or cutting off blood supply. The surgeon closes the weak spot to prevent the tissue from bulging out again.
