Places a soft tunneled tube into the abdominal cavity so dialysis fluid can be run in and drained out, usually at home. Through a small incision the surgeon positions the inner end low in the abdomen and tunnels the outer end under the skin to an exit site, which helps keep infection out. The tube stays in place long term.
