Placing Radiation Target Markers Through the Skin

Vermont rates for HCPCS 49411

Small metal markers are placed through the skin into or beside a tumor in the abdomen or pelvis, with imaging guiding the needle. The markers show up clearly on scans so a radiation beam can be aimed precisely and adjusted as the target moves with breathing. One or several markers may be placed in the same session.
