Pelvic Fluid Drainage Through the Vagina or Rectum

Vermont rates for HCPCS 49407

Drains an abscess or other trapped fluid collection in the abdomen or pelvis by placing a catheter through the wall of the vagina or the rectum, guided by imaging. Reaching the collection this way avoids passing a needle through bowel or other organs when the pocket sits deep in the pelvis. The catheter stays in until drainage stops.
