Whipple Procedure Without Pancreatic Duct Reconnection

This is a major operation, commonly known as the Whipple procedure, to remove the head of the pancreas along with the adjoining first part of the small intestine and part of the bile duct, most often to treat pancreatic or nearby cancer. In this version, the surgeon reconnects the bile duct and intestine but does not reconnect the pancreatic duct to the digestive tract.
