Gallbladder Removal Through An Open Incision

Vermont rates for HCPCS 47600

Removes the gallbladder through a cut in the upper abdomen, rather than with a camera through small openings. It is used when gallstones or inflammation are causing pain and attacks, and when scarring or anatomy makes the keyhole approach unsafe. Recovery is longer than with the keyhole version.
