Takes small tissue samples from the lining of a bile duct using a brush, forceps or needle passed down a tube that already runs through the skin into the duct. X-ray pictures guide the sampling. It is performed during another bile duct procedure and billed in addition to it, and the samples go to a laboratory to find out what is narrowing or blocking the duct.
