Bile Duct Drain Placed Through The Skin

South Dakota rates for HCPCS 47533

Places a drainage tube into a blocked bile duct by passing a needle and then a catheter through the skin into the liver, with imaging used to find the duct and guide the tube. In this version the tube carries bile out of the body into a collection bag on the outside. It relieves jaundice and infection caused by bile that cannot drain normally.
