Treats internal hemorrhoids by locating the small arteries that feed them with a Doppler ultrasound probe placed in the anal canal, then stitching those arteries closed so the swollen cushions shrink. Sagging tissue can be stitched back up into place at the same time. Nothing is cut away, so there is no open wound and the recovery is usually less painful than with a cut-out operation.
