Anal Fistula Closure With a Tissue Flap

Vermont rates for HCPCS 46288

Closes an abnormal tunnel running from the inside of the anal canal out to the skin by lifting a flap of healthy rectal lining and sewing it over the internal opening. Sealing the inside opening cuts off the source that keeps the tunnel draining, so it can heal shut. This approach is used to avoid cutting through the muscles that control continence.
