Second-Stage Anal Fistula Surgery

Vermont rates for HCPCS 46285

Finishes the treatment of an anal fistula, an abnormal tunnel running from inside the anal canal out to the skin, in a planned follow-up operation after an earlier stage. The remaining part of the tunnel is laid open or removed, and any thread or drain left in at the first operation is taken out. Doing the work in stages helps protect the muscle that controls bowel movements.
