Closure Of A Connection Between Rectum And Urethra

Rhode Island rates for HCPCS 45820

Surgery to close an abnormal channel between the rectum and the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the bladder, which lets stool or gas pass into the urine and urine pass into the rectum. The surgeon separates the two structures, closes the opening in each, and usually lays healthy tissue between them so the channel does not reopen. This version is the repair on its own, without creating a temporary opening in the abdomen to divert stool.
