Colonoscopy to Decompress the Bowel

Maryland rates for HCPCS 45393

Passes a flexible camera through the rectum into the colon to relieve a dangerously swollen or twisted section of bowel, letting trapped gas and fluid escape. A drainage tube can be left in place afterwards to stop the swelling returning. It is done urgently, because a stretched bowel wall can tear or lose its blood supply.
